THEREFORE, we the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to provide workers with 10 permanent sick days without the requirement for doctors’ notes, and an additional 14 paid sick days during an infectious disease emergency, so they can follow public health advice and keep our workplaces and our communities safe.

Whereas, workers in Ontario have been asked to stay home when sick but many do not have the financial means to do so;
Whereas, working parents need job protected leave to care for children who are sent home from school and daycare;
Whereas, allowing workers to stay home when ill will help prevent the spread of COVID 19;
Whereas, paid sick days are not a luxury but a necessity for the safety and well being of workers and our communities, and should exist even without the risks of a pandemic.
