Fight Ford's School Board Cuts and Takeover

Will you sign?

WE, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:

  • Immediately reverse the provincial takeover of Ontario’s school boards and reinstate democratically elected Trustees and our school boards;
  • Restore funding lost to inflation since 2018
  • Guarantee full provincial funding for statutory board expenses like CPP and EI;
  • Fully fund critical student supports, including special education, mental health, and school maintenance;
  • Reinstate and deliver overdue STEM, literacy, and history curriculum updates as promised; 

TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO

WHEREAS the Ford government has seized control of four democratically elected school boards.

WHEREAS Ford did this on the last day of school and a long weekend to avoid public scrutiny;

WHEREAS trustees were fighting Ford's cuts to essential programs like special education, student mental health supports, and school pool closures. Ford is punishing school boards for refusing to make cuts that would hurt children;

WHEREAS this move replaces local democracy with unelected and unaccountable provincial appointees;

WHEREAS curriculum updates in literacy, STEM, and history are being delayed again, further setting back student learning;

WHEREAS the Ford government created the crisis. It is Ford's fault for downloading, underfunding, and destabilizing public education;
