To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
Whereas preventative sexual health programs pay for themselves through money-saved in addition to enhanced health and well-being; and
Whereas the efficiency of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in preventing the spread of HIV is well-established;
Whereas many Ontarians did not receive the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in school and are forced to pay out of pocket to receive it later in life;
Whereas other Canadian jurisdictions such as British Columbia’s New Democratic provincial government already are fighting cancer by freely providing sexual health measures such as take home cervical cancer test kits;
Whereas safe and effective vaccines exist for other sexually-transmitted infections such as hepatitis A, B, and C, which primarily spread in communities facing marginalization;
Whereas expanding coverage of sexual health services under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) will promote public health and protect marginalized communities;
