Dear Friend,
I hope you are doing well.
As we prepare for the House to return on February 21, 2023, I have been working hard to organize awareness of the crisis in Ontario’s Tribunals as the Official Opposition Critic for the Ministry of the Attorney General.
On that, I am excited to announce a save the date for an expert panel I am organizing to help everyone understand the crisis in Ontario’s Tribunals. From the Landlord and Tenant Board to the Social Benefits Tribunal, to the Human Rights Tribunals, Ontario’s Tribunals underpin access to justice itself in Ontario.
Ford's chaos with Ontario Tribunals like the Landlord and Tenant Board means that families in Toronto are being taken advantage of with the help of massive corporations like AirBnb. Toronto has over 12,000 mid-term AirBnb listings. These units can and should be on the regular rental market. You can read the story of what people in our city are facing as a result here.
Help me welcome the new Ontario NDP Leader!

Please bring a mask with you to wear at the event, as attendees will be asked to wear a mask upon entry. Masks will be provided, should you need one. If you are feeling unwell, please watch on the livestream.
Lunar New Year Celebrations

This past week I have had the honour of celebrating Lunar New Year and the Year of the Rabbit with so many community members. I joined youth at the Parliament Street Library to celebrate, attended Chinatown BIA events with Marit Stiles, and knocked on the doors of seniors in Toronto Centre to wish them a happy new year and share lucky red envelopes with them.
This Saturday you can join me at the Eaton Centre for a traditional Lion Dance and other performances. More information about the event can be found here.

Stop Big Tobacco Campaign
The Ontario government is currently negotiating a massive settlement with big tobacco and I am proud to join the Canadian Cancer Society’s call for Attorney General Doug Dowey to use settlement funds to create robust anti-smoking public health campaigns that will keep our communities healthy for generations. You can read my letter to AG Downey here and learn about the Stop Big Tobacco campaign here.
