Childcare is very expensive and the City of Toronto offers support opportunities to make childcare more affordable. I have been an outspoken advocate for affordable and accessible childcare, working with parents, advocacy groups and service providers to create better, more accessible childcare.
The City of Toronto believes that every child belongs and we are committed to an inclusive child care system that is high in quality and rich in learning opportunities for all children. Learn more about the City's childcare services:
Licensed Child Care Facilities
The City of Toronto helps eligible families with the cost of child care through the Fee Subsidy Program. A family can use their child care fee subsidy at the centres identified below.
Child Care Fee Subsidy
A Child Care Fee Subsidy helps a family with the cost of licensed child care. There is a waitlist, so apply as soon as possible. You can apply as soon as you know you are pregnant or expecting a child through adoption.
Child Care Fee Subsidy Calculator
Based on the information you enter, the City's fee subsidy calculator will let you know if you may be eligible for a fee subsidy and it will estimate how much you will have to pay, per day, for licensed child care.
Services for Children with Additional Support Needs
Inclusive child care for a family of a child who needs extra support means that:
- each family is able to access the child care program of their choice
- each child is welcome and treated in the same thoughtful and respectful way as all other children.
The Every Child Belongs team is made up of professionals from the City and community agencies. Together we provide services to licensed child care programs in Toronto for children with extra support needs and their families.
