Bill 60 speeds up evictions and silences renters. It’s a gift to big landlords and a nightmare for everyone else.
The government briefing note further threatens to end security of tenure by preparing to bring in fixed-term leases. This would be unacceptable.
Bill 60 would have:
-
Tenants silenced. Miss one deadline and you lose your right to tell your side. No lawyer? No internet? This Bill has no room for reality.
-
Evictions on fast-forward. Half the time to appeal. Less fairness. Tenants facing harassment will be made more vulnerable.
-
Late by a day? Evicted. That’s not housing policy — that’s cruelty.
-
Other bad provisions: limiting municipalities right to plan public and affordable transit
